Mastodon for the HSD

A Mastodon instance for my university. Our team also developed and deployed a recommendation algorithm which Mastodon itself does not have.

In this project, led by two professors at my university, my team developed a recommendation algorithm using natural language processing (NLP). This proved to be rather challenging because of the distributed design of Mastodon and the Fediverse, but some of my team members (mostly master's students) still managed to implement a home timeline which was sorted based on the user's specific interests.
The tasks I performed in this project included the deployment of the recommendation software and its API on our Mastodon instance, performing maintenance work, fixing minor bugs and writing bots which provide the students with useful information on their timeline.
